FAQ

Q: Why is the actual power output lower than the rated power?

The rated power is measured under Standard Test Conditions (STC), which are ideal laboratory conditions used to compare solar panels. Actual output may be lower due to sunlight intensity, temperature, panel angle, shading, weather conditions, and cable losses.

Q: Why is the solar output low even on a sunny day?

Solar panels rely on sunlight, not heat. High panel temperatures can reduce output even in strong sunlight. Good ventilation and avoiding unnecessary heat buildup can help maintain better performance.

Q: Why does the solar power change during charging?

This is normal. Solar input can fluctuate due to changes in sunlight, clouds, temperature, shading, and panel angle.

Q: How can I get the maximum charging power from my solar panel?

Place the panel in strong, direct sunlight, point it toward the sun at a suitable angle, and avoid any shading. Make sure all connectors and cables are securely connected and that your power station supports the panel's output.

Q: How do I know if the solar panel is compatible with my power station?

Check your power station's solar input voltage, current, and maximum power specifications. The panel's output must stay within these limits. Having the same MC4 connector does not necessarily mean the devices are compatible.

Q: Can I charge and use my power station at the same time?

Yes. A compatible solar panel can charge your power station while the power station is supplying power to connected devices.

Q: Why is my power station still losing battery while solar charging?

This happens when your devices are using more power than the solar panel is generating. For example, if the panel provides 100W while connected devices consume 150W, the battery level will continue to decrease.

Q: Can I use the solar panel with an extension cable?

Yes. However, longer cables can cause additional power loss. Use a compatible cable with the proper specifications and keep the cable as short as practical.

Q: Can solar input overload my power station?

Always make sure the combined solar voltage, current, and power remain within your power station's input limits. The MPPT controller can manage excess power and current within its rated range, but it cannot reduce excessive input voltage. Never exceed the maximum solar input voltage.

Q: Why isn't my solar panel charging my power station?

Check the MC4 connectors, cables, sunlight conditions, and whether the panel's voltage and current match your power station's solar input requirements. Try reconnecting the solar cable or restarting the power station. You can also test AC or car charging to confirm whether the power station itself is operating normally.

Q: What is hotspot protection?

Hotspot protection helps reduce excessive heat caused by partial shading. Integrated bypass diodes allow current to bypass shaded sections of the panel, helping reduce heat buildup, protect the solar cells, and maintain more stable performance.

Q: Can solar panels generate power on cloudy days?

Yes. Solar panels can still generate electricity in cloudy conditions, but the output will usually be lower than under strong, direct sunlight.

Q: How do I check if SP400 Pro works with my power station?

Verify the power station’s max solar input voltage, current and power.
SP400 Pro electrical specs:
- Vmp: 32.6 V
- Voc: 39.1 V
- Imp: 12.3 A
- Isc: 12.5 A
All panel parameters must fall within the station’s input limits. MC4 connector matching does not guarantee compatibility.

Q: Can I use the solar panel in hot or cold weather?

Yes. Our solar panels are designed to operate from -10°C to 70°C (14°F to 158°F). However, very high temperatures may reduce solar output even when sunlight is strong.
